Back from the cruise
Sunday, 1 March 2009 21:11Got back from the cruise yesterday which was really nice. I don't know if I'd do another cruise any time soon as I'm of the opinion a cruise is a holiday for people who aren't game enough to take real holidays. But it was still an enjoyable week and I got to see a part of the world I'd never see normally (we stopped at three places in new Caledonia; Noumea, Lifou and Vanuatu). We spent a lot of time doing the on-ship activities like dance and circus lessons, bingo, shuffleboard etc. We also watched a heap of the live shows which ranged from very good to just plain awful. I spent a lot on duty free goods, though the savings were incredible. I got a new Guess bag and watch, a LOT of shockingly cheap jewelry, a Juicy Couture bag and purse (possibly fake but they look awesome so I don't care) and very cheap alcohol. I also got a few nick-nacks while on the islands, including a black pearl bracelet and a hideously bright sarong. I also drank an excessive amount of cocktails all week, due to them being crazy-cheap and delicious. Oh and the food on the ship was amazing and I ate more than enough at each meal.
The highlight would probably have to be in Vanuatu where we went on a zego trip (zego's are like really big jet ski's which we got to drive around the bay. I rode one with mum who screamed the whole time because I worked out how to do super sharp turns into waves which got water everywhere. Half way we went to a little island and got to drink from fresh coconuts and eat locally grown fruits and nuts from some native people. Another highlight was snorkeling at Lifou which was really beautiful. Oh and I got a bit of a tan, which I usually don't like but it is kind of nice to be a little bit brown once in a while.
The only bad thing was that my sister's boyfriend was with us and he's a bit of a pain. In fact we all had a huge argument on the last evening and now my sister and him aren't talking to me and mum. Oh well, it was bound to happen and will hopefully blow over soon enough. Oh and I now have massive credit card debt from this trip and the trip to Europe, so I won't be taking another holiday for quite some time now!
I haven't got any photos yet but my mate Bure who is DJing on the ship for 6 weeks has a few up so I stole one from the Island Party theme night:
