GOOD BYE FOR NOW!

I'm sure most of you are probably bored of all this Harry Potter business by now. Well I am too. I'm sick to death of people trying to post spoilers everywhere, and I refuse to have this book spoilt at all. God knows I'm still fucking FURIOUS last year when a "friend" posted a scan of the page in which Dumbledore dies saying "HAHA DUMBLEDORE DIES" (why I stayed friends with him is beyond me, come to think of it). I don't get why people are trying SO hard to spoint this for me and all Harry Potter fans out there. It's even happening with RL friends, which is infuriatiing but apart from a stream of viscious abuse there's little I can do to prevent that.
Liveournal is another thing though. So from today on, I am having nothing to do with LJ until I'm over this whole fiasco. I'm not risking any more spoilers or enduring any more crap from those who "hate" Harry Potter (read the fucking books before you say that, assholes). I was going to stay offline completely but I've had no troubles on Myspace or Facebook thus far so I won't ditch them entirely just now.
This might only be only until I'm finished the book, but that all depends on how I cope when I'm done. Maybe I'm being a bit weird/obsessive but I'm getting really upset about the impending release, so unless the book ends all happy and sunshiney (which I doubt) then I may take a while to recover.
Also, if I happen to burst into tears at Borders on Saturday, please don't be surprised or worried, I'm just completely overwhelmed by this event :(

Date: 19/7/07 15:24 (UTC)I'm not a "hype-y" person and as soon as hypes come up, I automatically tend to distance myself from the particular object. I'm not actually always trying to be "anti", I just don't wanna be a part of a big massy mob or whatever. I think that most things should be kept more or less private to let them remain special. As soon as a big audience is introduced to them, especially a certain kind of audience, who did not take notice of anything until it was all hyped, it is - in a way - ruined for me, because most of those people don't understand anything... Of course most of this point of view is based on music and everything, but it generally makes me dislike hypes of all types (haha, rhyme xD) and as far as I remember, I've never been actually fond of mass-events, so I hope you forgive me, I was/am just pissed off because of this entire hype and drama. In my opinion People can be fans of all kinds of things as long as they keep it to themselves and to those who understand it... I just feel run over by all this, especially as I DO NOT CARE about it AT ALL.

Date: 30/7/07 14:17 (UTC)I do understand why you'd not want to get into something so popular, but at the same time it's silly to avoid something for that reason alone. Yes, it's nice to love something that few people know about or appreciate, but sometimes that's because that thing is shit. And if it's good then it's either going to become popular or die out. Don't go out of your way to avoid something because it's "popular" or "mainstream", you could be missing out on something you should love.
Agter all, my mum nagged me for months to read Harry Potter as I refused to join a new trend. She sat me down with the 1st book one day...and the rest, as they say, is history!

Date: 20/7/07 11:20 (UTC)That's human beings for you. It's like the american radio DJ Howard Stern: most "popular" DJ in the USA, but around 40% of his audience were people who hated him and only listened to him to see what outrageous thing he was going to say / do next, so they could complain.
