Oz Day Weekend Roundup

rockfotzeI had an exceptionally random Australia Day weekend, which is to say it was really good.
Thursday night I had some after work drinks but when I found myself becoming a cranky drunk (not that I drank very much anyway) I left quite early. The next morning/early afternoon mum and I headed into Southbank by Citycat for the Australia Day festivities, picking up a slab of Strongbow along the way (we left most of it in the car, I assure you all now) for a mere $30!!! The festivities were over-hyped but I had a nice day with mum, sauntering around, getting tipsy while watching a crappy 60s coverband, looking at classic FJ Holdens and wishing I owned one, learning Bollywood dancing, only to have Anthong, Dazza and Katie turn up and embarrass the hell out of me by secretly watching my half-drunk arse try and dance in thongs! That evening I caught up with those three again for a party we never quite made it to. Instead we drank at Anthony's place, before "crashing" a shitty party on the other side of the complex and then heading out to The Met as per usual. We caught up with all of the ADICTS girls (since I can't think of another fitting collective term for them, and that's how I know 'em so it's going to stick) who were completely wasted after drinking all day. It was hilarious, Jess was especially drunk and so, so loud (she kept screaming "She's hot" about me to anyone who was nearby, which was flattering though embarrassing). Then Sara, who I've found to be very quiet and reserved was SO rowdy, she kept dancing so much her boobs were pretty much always out of her dress. The girls eventually got kicked out for falling asleep everywhere so it was me, Anthony and Katie left, after we'd somehow found ourselves in the VIP area, which is balls compared to the rest of the club if you ask me. Anthony and I got back to his after 5am, totalkly fucking exhausted.
We slept in the next morning so I postponed the trip to Australia Zoo with mum til the next day. I eventually met up with her that afternoon where we saw "Pan's labyrinth" which was simply amazing. Sure, the violence has given me a few nasty dreams and I cried at the end despite the happy ending, but it was magnificent. I wasn't expecting it to be Spanish for some reason, but for me that made it even better. Oh my, SO good. I stayed in on Saturday night as I was starting to come down (note to self, half a pill is plenty, a whole one is too much for my weak ass body to handle) even though I really wanted to see the Throttle Zombies play in the Valley :(
Sunday morning mum and I attempted to leave early for Australia Zoo but we Westworth's aren't very good at that, but we made good time. MY GOD has the zoo changed since I was there several years ago. Back then Steve Irwin wasn't that big, we all found him to be too loud and embarrassing anfd the zoo was tiny. NOW it's massive, and full of so many new and exotic animals! I fed an elephant and watched the tigers romp for some milk. There was a cool snake/bird/croc show at the massive Crocoseum, and I got to pat various Aussie native animals. I was especially delighted when I went to the Kids Zoo where they have farm animals for kids to touch, when I found lots of piglets. I put my hand in their pen, where three of then started sniffling and snuffling my arm which was the most tickly and hilarious sensation ever. Oh man, if I love pige before, now I ADORE them! I ended up buying a pink t-shirt with a vague picture of a Cheetar that says "Cheetars are fading away" as all the Steve Irwin shirts were hideous khaki green, and who can resist pink AND cheetars??? It was a good day, I really enjoyed it. Though I kept getting all weepy when I saw the Steve tributes everywhere. Damn that amazing, fantastic man :(

I'll be uploading photos from Lily Allen and Australia Zoo soon. For now it's bedtime, even though I have my first ever RDO tomorrow! I was so tired today I thought I was going to die. I blame my stupid right lip stud for falling out during the night so I couldn't sleep for fear of choking >:(
On a horrific, TMI note: I have to get a pap smear tomorrow AND a bikini wax. Oh man, my girl parts are going to HATE me by tomorrow afternoon!
