basically, when you buy stuff from ITunes store, it comes in a format called M4P, which is DRM protected, and cant be read by anything except ITunes and IPods, however
if you go to http://community.livejournal.com/something4kate/54665.html?thread=359049#t359049 and follow the instructions, download QTFairUse, and use it to convert the files to M4A, which is Apple's normal file format, and once that is done, you can right click on the files in ITunes, and select "Convert Selection to MP3", and itll reformat the files to mp3, at which time you should be able to move them to the Gigabeat...
